Is it free to publish a website on Squarespace?

No, publishing a public website on Squarespace requires a paid plan. You can build and preview for free during the trial, but the site stays private until you subscribe.

Once you subscribe, your site can go live and be indexed by search engines. The lowest cost to publish is the Basic plan billed annually: $21 CAD a month ($252 CAD a year) in Canada, or $19 USD a month ($228 USD a year) in the US. Selecting this plan of course depends on what features you need for your specific website.

Annual plans include a free custom domain for the first year. Monthly plans don't, so you'd connect a domain you already own or buy one separately.

August Cura Studio has registered domains through Namecheap for years, and those domains have connected to Squarespace without issues. Keeping your domain with a separate registrar may make things a little less complicated if you ever change website platforms.

A plan and a domain cover going live (just make sure you have any legal wording for your terms, privacy & cookie policy pages which can be another cost), but the site still needs your content before it’s ready to publish.

If you’re starting from a template, think of it as a foundation to customize. August Cura Studio templates are delivered within 24 hours of purchase, and you can publish once you've added your own words and photos and chosen a plan.

Prices current as of October 2026.
